### Full technique — 6 steps

1. Hook your feet under the rollers of a decline bench and sit with only your hips on the bench.
2. Place your hands behind your head with your elbows pointing out to the sides.
3. Tighten your stomach and lower your torso until it is about parallel to the floor, with your back off the bench.
4. Exhale and curl your torso upward toward your knees.
5. Continue until your torso reaches an upright position over your hips.
6. Lower yourself under control until your torso is about parallel to the floor again, without resting on the bench.

## Common mistakes

- Pulling the head with hands
- Swinging the torso with momentum
- Resting the back on the bench
- Dropping below parallel at the bottom
- Letting the lower back arch

## Form cues

- Curl, don't yank up
- Keep chin neutral
- Hands stay by head
- Stop at parallel
- Keep ribs down
