## How to do the Standing Barbell Twist

1. Stand tall with the bar across your upper back, hands wide.
2. Keep your hips facing forward and your stomach tight.
3. Rotate your torso to one side, then back through center.
4. Turn to the other side slowly, without swinging the bar.

### Full technique — 6 steps

1. Place a barbell across your upper back and take a wide overhand grip.
2. Stand tall with feet about hip width apart and a slight knee bend.
3. Tighten your stomach and keep your shoulders level.
4. Rotate your shoulders and torso to one side while your hips stay facing forward.
5. Rotate back through center and turn to the opposite side.
6. Move slowly so the plates do not carry you past your comfortable range.

## Common mistakes
