## How to do the Staggered Stance Dumbbell Romanian Deadlift

1. Hold dumbbells at your thighs, one foot a short step back on its toes.
2. Keep most of your weight on the front leg, slight knee bend.
3. Push your hips back and lower the dumbbells close to your legs.
4. Drive through the front foot to stand tall, then switch sides.

### Full technique — 7 steps

1. Stand tall with a dumbbell in each hand at your thighs and step one foot a short distance back.
2. Keep the front foot flat and rest the rear foot on its toes, with most of your weight on the front leg.
3. Set a slight knee bend, pull your shoulders back, and keep the dumbbells close to your legs.
4. Tighten your stomach and hinge by pushing your hips straight back without squatting down.
5. Lower until you feel a strong hamstring stretch or your torso approaches parallel to the floor.
6. Drive the front foot into the floor and extend your hips to bring the dumbbells back up.
7. Complete all reps on one side, then switch legs and repeat.

## Common mistakes

- Turning the hinge into a squat
- Rounding through the lower back
- Pushing off the rear foot instead of loading the front leg.
- Letting dumbbells drift away
- Leaning back at the top

## Form cues

- Push hips straight back
- Keep dumbbells close
- Keep hips square
- Stop at hamstring stretch
- Front foot does the work
