## How to do the Smith Machine Decline Press

1. Adjust the bench to a slight decline and secure your legs underneath.
2. Grip the bar a little wider than your shoulders, wrists over elbows.
3. Lower the bar to your chest, following the machine's path.
4. Push the bar back up, straightening your arms completely.

### Full technique — 8 steps

1. Set a bench to a slight decline under the Smith machine bar.
2. Secure your legs under the pads and lie back so the bar lowers to your lower chest.
3. Grip the bar slightly wider than shoulder width with wrists in line with your forearms.
4. Unhook the bar and hold it over your chest with elbows extended.
5. Inhale, tighten your stomach, and lower the bar straight down along the machine rails.
6. Bring the bar to your lower chest without letting your shoulders roll forward.
7. Press the bar upward on the same fixed path until your elbows are straight.
8. Finish with the bar directly over your chest and re-rack securely between sets.

- Bouncing the bar off chest
