## Muscles worked

- Obliques: 9/10
- Lower back: 5/10
- Abs: 4/10

## How to do the Resistance Band Side Bend

1. Anchor the band low beside you, handle in the nearer hand.
2. Let the band pull your trunk sideways toward the anchor.
3. Straighten back to upright using the obliques on your far side.
4. Lower into the bend slowly; switch sides after all reps.

### Full technique — 7 steps

1. Anchor a resistance band low beside you and hold the handle in the hand nearer the anchor.
2. Stand with feet about shoulder width apart and let your free arm hang at your side.
3. Let the band pull your trunk sideways toward the anchor, keeping your chest facing forward.
4. Tighten your stomach and bend only sideways, without twisting or leaning forward.
5. Contract the opposite-side obliques to bring your torso back to upright.
6. Lower back into the side bend under control as the band pulls you toward the anchor.
7. Complete all reps on one side, then switch sides.

## Common mistakes

- Turning the chest during reps
- Leaning forward instead of sideways
- Letting hips drift sideways
- Pulling the handle up with the arm
- Letting the band snap you sideways

## Form cues

- Bend only sideways
- Keep chest facing forward
- Move through the trunk
- Keep pelvis level
