## How to do the Resistance Band Dead Bug

1. Lie on your back holding the band, arms straight above your shoulders.
2. Lift your legs with your hips and knees bent to 90 degrees.
3. Slowly extend one leg until the heel hovers just above the floor.
4. Stop if your lower back lifts off the floor—keep it pressed down gently.
5. Bring the leg back and switch legs, keeping your arms still.

### Full technique — 8 steps

1. Anchor a resistance band low behind your head and lie on your back holding it in both hands.
2. Hold your arms straight above your shoulders so the band pulls back toward the anchor.
3. Lift your legs so your hips and knees are bent to 90 degrees.
4. Flatten your lower back into the floor and lightly exhale to set your ribcage down.
5. Keep your arms still as you slowly extend one leg forward until the heel hovers just above the floor.
6. Stop the range before your lower back lifts or your ribs flare upward.
7. Bring the leg back to the starting position without losing floor contact.
8. Switch sides and repeat, alternating controlled reps from side to side.

## Common mistakes

- Lower back arching off floor
- Letting ribs flare excessively
- Letting the arms drift toward the anchor
- Starting with slack in band
- Moving both sides at once

## Form cues

- Keep ribs down
- Stop before back lifts
- Keep arms still
- Keep band taut
- Exhale during the reach
