## How to do the Plate Romanian Deadlift

1. Stand with feet hip-width apart, holding the plate at your thighs.
2. Bend your knees slightly and push your hips back, keeping the plate close.
3. Lower the plate along your legs until you feel a stretch in your hamstrings.
4. Push through your feet and squeeze your glutes to return to the start.
5. Maintain a slight bend in your knees throughout the movement.

### Full technique — 7 steps

1. Stand with feet hip-width apart and hold one weight plate by its side handles in front of your thighs.
2. Set a slight knee bend, pull your shoulders back, and keep your arms straight with the plate close to your legs.
3. Tighten your stomach and hinge by pushing your hips straight back without squatting down.
4. Lower the plate along your thighs toward your shins while keeping your spine neutral.
5. Continue descending until your hamstrings reach a strong stretch and your hips stop moving back.
6. Drive your feet into the floor and extend your hips to bring the plate back up.
7. Finish standing tall with hips fully extended and ribs in line with your pelvis.

## Common mistakes

- Turning the hinge into a squat
- Rounding through the lower back
- Bending knees more on descent
- Plate drifting away from legs
- Bending the arms to lift the plate
- Hyperextending at the top

## Form cues

- Push hips straight back
- Keep plate close
- Slight knee bend, fixed angle
- Stop at hamstring stretch
- Arms stay long
- Stand tall at top
