## How to do the Plate Forward Lunge

1. Stand tall, holding a plate at your chest with both hands.
2. Step forward with one leg, bending both knees to lower your body.
3. Keep your front knee pointing the same way as your front foot.
4. Push off your front foot to return to the starting position.
5. Alternate legs for each lunge.

### Full technique — 7 steps

1. Stand tall with feet hip-width apart, holding a weight plate by its edges at chest height.
2. Keep the plate close to your chest with elbows bent and pointing down.
3. Tighten your stomach and take a comfortable step forward with one leg.
4. Lower straight down until both knees bend and your back knee approaches the floor.
5. Keep your front foot flat and your front knee pointing the same way as that foot.
6. Drive through the whole front foot to push yourself back to the starting position.
7. Alternate legs each repetition.

## Common mistakes

- Taking too short a step
- Pushing off the back foot
- Front heel lifting off floor
- Torso collapsing forward
- Letting the plate drift away from chest

## Form cues

- Plate stays at chest
- Stay tall through torso
- Front foot stays planted
- Push back from front leg
