## How to do the Dumbbell Swing

1. Stand with feet a little wider than hips, dumbbell in both hands.
2. Push your hips back and send the dumbbell back between your legs.
3. Snap your hips forward, letting the dumbbell float to shoulder height.
4. Let it swing back down, then hinge again to receive it.

### Full technique — 8 steps

1. Stand with feet just outside hip width, holding one dumbbell by the handle with both hands.
2. Let the dumbbell hang at arm's length with your arms straight and your shoulders down and back.
3. Push your hips back and send the dumbbell back between your thighs, keeping your back flat.
4. Drive your feet into the floor and snap your hips forward hard.
5. Let the dumbbell float to about shoulder height while keeping your arms long.
6. Stand tall at the top with glutes tight, ribs down, and knees straight but not forced back.
7. Let the dumbbell fall naturally, then hinge back to receive it deep between your thighs.
8. Flow directly into the next rep without squatting down or lifting with your arms.

## Common mistakes

- Rounding through the lower back
- Bending arms through the upswing

## Form cues
