## How to do the Dumbbell Side Bend

1. Stand with your feet hip-width apart, holding a dumbbell in one hand.
2. Place your free hand behind your head for balance and stability.
3. Bend sideways, sliding the dumbbell down your thigh toward your knee.
4. Return to upright, feeling a stretch on your side—switch sides after.

### Full technique — 7 steps

1. Stand tall with feet about hip width apart, holding a dumbbell at one side.
2. Place your free hand on your hip or behind your head for balance.
3. Tighten your stomach and keep your shoulders level.
4. Slide the dumbbell down the outside of your thigh by bending sideways at the trunk.
5. Lower until you reach your comfortable end range without twisting or leaning forward.
6. Contract the opposite-side obliques to bring your torso back to upright.
7. Finish upright over your hips, then complete all reps before switching sides.

## Common mistakes

- Bouncing out of the bottom
- Letting hips drift sideways
- Using a weight too heavy

## Form cues

- Slide weight down thigh
- Keep chest facing forward
- Bend only sideways
- Move through the trunk
