## How to do the Dumbbell Overhead Side Bend

1. Stand with feet hip-width apart, one dumbbell held overhead in both hands.
2. Keep your arms straight and bend sideways at the trunk.
3. Return to upright, then bend to the other side.
4. Keep your chest facing forward the whole time.

### Full technique — 7 steps

1. Stand tall with feet about hip width apart, holding one dumbbell by both ends.
2. Press the dumbbell overhead until your arms are straight and hold it level.
3. Tighten your stomach and keep your shoulders level.
4. Bend sideways at the trunk, letting your arms and the dumbbell move with your torso.
5. Lower until you reach your comfortable end range without twisting or leaning forward.
6. Contract the opposite-side obliques to bring your torso back to upright.
7. Bend to the other side next, alternating sides for the whole set.

## Common mistakes

- Turning the chest during reps
- Leaning forward instead of sideways
- Bending the elbows overhead
- Letting hips drift sideways
- Using a weight too heavy

## Form cues

- Bend only sideways
- Keep chest facing forward
- Move through the trunk
- Arms stay long
