## How to do the Dumbbell Curl

1. Stand tall, holding a dumbbell in each hand, palms facing forward.
2. Curl both dumbbells toward your shoulders, bending only at your elbows.
3. Lower the dumbbells slowly back down to your sides, fully extending your arms.

### Full technique — 6 steps

1. Stand tall with a dumbbell in each hand, arms at your sides, palms facing forward.
2. Set your shoulders back and keep your elbows close to your torso.
3. Curl both dumbbells upward by bending your elbows without letting them drift forward.
4. Raise the weights until your forearms are nearly vertical and your biceps fully shorten.
5. Lower the dumbbells back to your sides until your elbows are fully extended.
6. Begin the next rep with your elbows fully extended, without swinging your torso or hips.

## Common mistakes

- Swinging the torso to start reps
- Letting elbows drift forward
- Cutting the bottom range short
- Bending wrists under the dumbbells
- Turning it into a hammer curl

## Form cues

- Keep elbows by sides
- Start from full elbow extension
- Palms stay up
- Lift both evenly
