## How to do the Decline Plank Shoulder Tap

1. Start in a plank with your feet on a bench and hands under your shoulders.
2. Carefully lift one hand to tap your shoulder, keeping your body still.
3. Return your hand to the floor and repeat on the other side slowly.
4. Avoid letting your hips twist or your lower back arch during the exercise.

### Full technique — 8 steps

1. Place your toes on a flat bench behind you and your hands on the floor about shoulder width apart.
2. Set your shoulders directly over your hands, straighten your legs, and form a straight line from head to heels.
3. Tighten your stomach, squeeze your glutes, and keep your ribs in line with your pelvis.
4. Shift your weight onto one arm without letting your hips twist or your lower back sag.
5. Lift the opposite hand and tap your shoulder, keeping your torso as still as possible.
6. Place that hand back under the shoulder and reestablish an even plank position.
7. Repeat on the other side, alternating taps while keeping pressure evenly through the planted hand.
8. Continue for the set without letting your hips rock side to side or pike upward.

## Common mistakes

- Feet set too narrow
- Piking hips to stay balanced
- Hand landing ahead of shoulder

## Form cues
