## How to do the Bodyweight Lateral Lunge

1. Stand with feet under your hips, hands together at your chest.
2. Step out to one side, planting your foot flat with your toes forward.
3. Bend your stepping knee as you shift your hips back and lower down.
4. Push back up, straightening your leg and returning to the starting position.

### Full technique — 7 steps

1. Stand tall with feet under hips and hands together in front of your chest.
2. Step out wide to one side and plant that foot flat with toes pointed forward.
3. Shift your hips back into the stepping leg as that knee bends and the other leg stays long.
4. Lower until the working thigh approaches parallel or your mobility limit without the planted heel lifting.
5. Keep your torso upright over the working leg and hold the bottom briefly.
6. Drive through the whole foot of the bent leg to push yourself back to standing.
7. Complete all reps on one side before switching legs.

## Common mistakes

- Knee collapsing inward on descent
- Stepping too narrow to load hips
- Letting the working heel rise
- Folding chest down excessively
- Bouncing out of the bottom

## Form cues

- Keep toes forward
- Load the bent leg
- Straighten the trailing leg
- Push through whole foot
- Knee points where foot points
