## How to do the Bodyweight Bulgarian Split Squat

1. Set rear foot on bench.
2. Lower straight down under control.
3. Drive through front foot to stand.
4. Finish reps, then switch sides.

### Full technique — 6 steps

1. Stand a couple of feet in front of a bench or box with your hands at your hips.
2. Place the top of your rear foot on the bench and set your front foot far enough forward that you can squat straight down.
3. Tighten your stomach, keep your torso upright, and lower until your hips approach front knee level and your rear knee drops toward the floor.
4. Drive through your front foot to stand back up, extending the front knee and hip.
5. Finish tall over your front leg without pushing hard off the rear foot.
6. Complete all reps on one side, then switch legs and repeat.

## Common mistakes

- Using a stance that is too short and crowding the front knee.
- Pushing off the rear foot instead of loading the front leg.
- Letting the front knee cave inward during the descent and drive.
- Front heel lifting off floor
- Stopping well above usable depth

## Form cues

- Front foot stays planted
- Lower straight down
- Rear leg stays light
- Torso upright
- Keep hips square
