## How to do the Assisted Bulgarian Split Squat

1. Set rear foot on box.
2. Hold the upright bar with one hand for balance.
3. Lower straight down under control.
4. Drive through front foot to stand.
5. Finish reps, then switch sides.

### Full technique — 8 steps

1. Stand a couple of feet in front of a box and stand a barbell upright on the floor beside where your front foot will go.
2. Place the top of your rear foot on the box and set your front foot far enough forward that you can squat straight down.
3. Hold the upright bar with one hand at about face height and let your other arm hang at your side.
4. Tighten your stomach, keep your torso upright, and lower until your hips approach front knee level and your rear knee drops toward the floor.
5. Drive through your front foot to stand back up, extending the front knee and hip.
6. Use the bar only for balance and let your legs do the work.
7. Finish tall over your front leg without pushing hard off the rear foot.
8. Complete all reps on one side, then switch legs and repeat.

## Common mistakes

- Pulling on the bar to stand up
- Pushing off the rear foot instead of loading the front leg.
- Using a stance that is too short and crowding the front knee.
- Letting the front knee cave inward during the ascent.
- Stopping well above usable depth

## Form cues

- Front foot stays planted
- Lower straight down
- Rear leg stays light
- Bar for balance only
- Torso stays tall
